The person I chose to interview is one of my bestfriends, Tyler Murphy. Tyler and I have been to multiple concerts together and he has shown me a plethra of different types of music. The reason why I chose to interview him is because we both have very similar tastes in music and he is extremely knowledgeable about music. I first asked him who is top five favorite artists are, he said in no particular order: Kendrick Lamar, Tyler, the Creator, Frank Ocean, JPEGMAFIA, and Childish Gambino. Tyler has been to 2 music festivals and 11 concerts, totaling up to approximatly 29 artists and music groups. When asked about his favorite music evemt hes been to he said it had to be Camp Flog Gnaw, which I attended with him. “The atmosphere was amazing, the sets exceeded expectations, and it was an overall great experience. A large group of individuals who have similar music taste, condensed in one area for two entire days. Anyone I would converse with were outgoing and willing to talk about their admiration for the artists we all came to see” he explained. He said he will definetly be going back next year. Tyler said he listens to music everyday, “There is not a day that goes by where I don’t listen to music. In the shower, always when I’m in the car, sometimes at school, or when I’m doing homework at home. Any chance I get, I’ll be listening to music.” I then asked Tyler about why he listens to music and what it means to him, and his response perfectly describes how I feel about music to, “There is so much to music that makes it one of the most important things in my life. There’s the beauty of the work that goes into the composition of music and the appreciation for what is released by others. There exists a vast diversity of genres that allows music to evolve and expand even more, making it just that much more interesting. It’s something that I believe can help all people and has the capability to truly bring people together, at least for a moment. I would say more but, my love for it is unquantifiable.” Tylers view on music is extremely relatable and I think everyone should take time out of their day everyday to listen to music, no matter what type.
