SZA

I get so lonely, I forget what I’m worth
We get so lonely, we pretend that this works
I’m so ashamed of myself think I need therapy-y-y-y
I’m sorry I’m not more attractive
I’m sorry I’m not more ladylike
I’m sorry I don’t shave my legs at night
I’m sorry I’m not your baby mama
I’m sorry you got karma comin’ to you
Collect your soul, get it right

Sza, or Solána Imani Rowe, or the queen of R&B and Vocals in today’s music is my first music muse. I’ll be honest, the first time I heard Sza’s music was on the radio. “The Weekend” and “Love Galore” were her first two hit songs off her album Ctrl . Both songs are so great and understandably hits,  but definitely nothing near her best in my opinion. She has other songs that have a much much deeper meanings than those. Sza sings a lot about relationships, love, how men have mistreated her in the past, and what it means to be and become a woman. My top 5 favorite songs from that album are: 1. “Drew Barrymore” 2. “Broken Clocks” 3. “Supermodel” 4. “Garden” 5. “Wavy.” This past november I saw SZA in concert for the first time and she was amazing. She sounded exactly the same as she does on her albums, and her presence on stage was so comforting and gave me so much joy.

My Music Muse

Some artists and their songs that make me feel some type of way.

Hi, my name is Windy Land and I LOVE music. I’ve listened to music my whole life, starting off with the stuff my parents would play, like the B 52’s and the Cure. Once I was in high school I became obsessed with getting really into artists and knowing everything about them, as well as going to concerts and music festivals. For each artist I talk about in this blog I will state how I first started listening to them, a little bit about their background, how their music makes me feel, how I felt when/if I saw then in concert, and rank my favorite songs of theirs. Hope you enjoy :))))))). Click here for a playlist of all my favorite songs I mention in the posts 🙂
